Buzzed Driving - St Patrick's Day

St. Patrick's Day is right around the corner, and it's not the luck of the Irish that will keep the roads safe - it's planning now for a safe and sober way home.

Are you headed out with friends after work this Wednesday to celebrate the holiday? No? Well when you and your family are on the road headed to choir practice, a t-ball game, or coming home from school, you may be sharing the road with those returning from a fun St. Patrick's Day event. It's time to spread the word about the dangers of buzzed driving and to remind people that Buzzed Driving IS Drunk Driving, and the best way to stay safe is to plan ahead.

Let's remind everyone about the importance of remembering to:
- Designate a sober driver before you leave for your event.
- Be ready to take alternate transportation such as a bus or taxi. Have the phone number of a taxi service stored in your phone before you leave for the party.

Even if you will not be celebrating this St. Patrick's Day, keep in mind that in 2008, 1,179 people in other vehicles were killed in crashes involving alcohol-impaired drivers. And for those who don't plan on over-indulging, a buzzed driving crash looks the same as a drunk driving crash.

Global Influence is working with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and the Ad Council as they continue their efforts with the "Buzzed Driving is Drunk Driving" PSA campaign. Buzzed drivers drink and drive, but do not consider themselves a hazard on the roadway because they have had "only a few" drinks. The campaign hopes to educate people that consuming even a few drinks can impair driving and that "Buzzed Driving is Drunk Driving."

We need your help in keeping the roads safe for everyone this St. Patrick's Day by spreading the word that buzzed driving IS drunk driving.

"When the Warm Buddy Body Wrap arrived for me to try out, I was ecstatic. First of all, it's lavender scented. Ahhhhh (envision me - eyes closed, cucumbers and all, cushy bath robe, warm buddy body wrap around shoulders). That pretty much sold me right there. Secondly, it's a lot bigger than the typical heating "bags" - wider and longer. What's so nice about that? It covers your entire back, belly and chest and so on so you don't have to move it around to hit all the key spots. It's covered in a super soft, washable (essential) cover that's more comfortable than the typical hard cotton/canvas covers that I'm used to. You can choose from a variety of fabrics as well, which is nice for the girls - we always like selection! I've been using my body wrap before bed around my neck and shoulders and I'm in love with it. I'm only wishing I had known about them when I was pregnant as it would have saved me a lot of boring time soaking in a hot tub, ruining my hair and drying my skin out! It's actually around my neck right now and it's not even heated (like I said, the lavender scent gets me every time). I'm definitely using this as my replacement for the water bottle I have used to warm up Jane's crib sheets before bed. It stressed me out having such hot water any where near Jane because of risk of scalding so this is the perfect solution. My only problem with the body wrap? You can also use it for cold therapy. Why is this a problem? My hubby uses cold therapy on his knees and I know soon as he reads this post, he's going to try to turn my comfy, cozy, relaxing, calming body wrap into a post-frisbee knee therapy which won't make me happy! :p"

Wolf Designs has fine tuned their case making skills for over 175 years. They have items for men and women, for home and travel, for little items and for larger items. The Saint Tropez Collection is gorgeous! They have 3 color choices and each of the jewelry storage items is suitable for travel or home use.

This is a picture of the medium Saint Tropez case (my photography skills were not good enough to adequately show off the beauty of the interior of the small case with the mirror…). The prize case is a smaller size – has 2 bottom drawers instead of 4, and the top sections are configured a little differently, but it really is that beautiful inside!

Yes, this is what they call a ’small’ case, but it is not at all tiny and has plenty of room to store your treasures. (8.5″ w x 6″ d x 4.5″ h). It would be fabulous to take with you when you are traveling, but is also perfect for storing and protecting your treasures in style at home.

Since I can remember I have always been an organized individual, and some would say I am on the verge of having Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD). My rebuttal is that people all around me benefit from my organizational skills, and I am the one that spends the time to keep things organized, to the point of thriving on it. Well, I must admit that although our kitchen is organized, the junk drawer makes my skin crawl. I love the idea of sticking misc. items in the junk drawer, but when I go to find something I end up taking everything out in order to find that one thing that is all the way in the back, covered with junk. When Rubbermaid allowed us to review this 6-Piece Organization Set, my OCD tendencies began to set in and I was excited. This set is great!!! All the pieces are interlocking, have rubber linings and have rubber bottoms; all of which add to the flexibility and durability of this set. The set is very user friendly and with one snap, you are on your way to reducing stress and saving time. Sure, organizing does require time, but it saves lots of time down the road. After using our organization set, I am no longer finding myself tearing the drawer apart to find that 'needle in a haystack.' My words of advice for 2010...grab the family, get to the store (or online), purchase this Rubbermaid set or other Rubbermaid organizing sets and get organized. It's all about spending less time searching and more time doing the things you want to do."
